Seaworld and Sunset

Today we went to Seaworld, which was pretty cool. It was awesome to see killer whales up close and real life. We also saw dolphins, a couple of other types of whales, sharks, moray eels, and heaps more. The Orcas were the coolest. The sealions were really funny as well.

After that we went down to Pacific Beach to watch the sunset. Beautiful!

San Diego - First 2 days

Day one we went aboard the USS Midway - it's an aircraft carrier museum. Amazing!

Shoot it down!

Day 2 we went to Tiajuana in Mexico. It's fun because you can barter with the people selling. A different world with the povety.
We went to the boarder on the pacific side -Nice beach but also has men with guns. Then we went shopping, and when it was time to leave our bus broke down. That added a few hours to the trip, and was a bit stressful. Didn't want to be spending the night in Mexico!

Tiajuana's famous arch above the city.

These are 2 different shots from our hotel balcony.

Niagara Falls, near Toronto.

Here are some pictures from Niagara Falls. It was snowing lovely white fluffy snow the whole time we were there. Cold but amazing.
I have never seen snow this deep.
This lady was wearing a short skirt, but the snow was pretty deep. All her boot and most of her leg was buried.

Certainly is an epic view.
Cute snow!

We took a carriage ride as well.

We made it to San Diego!

Note to self - don't ever try to fly in the weeks following a terror attempt. It adds hours to the airport hassle!

Our internet here is expensive, so we may not be able to blog as much. We will try to add some photo's of Toronto tonight.

Loving the warmer weather!

2nd of Jan, 2010

Today we went to ground zero where 9/11 happened and got conned into buying a photo book and we went into a memorial centre. It was just like a construction site and had pics of the mew layout. It was really sad because with the photos you could recognise some of the buildings the remained and ones the had to be half torn down.

We then got totally lost on the subway and brought Stacey some boots and got some winter woollies.
After that we went to the MET which is the metropolitan museum of art, the greatest art museum. Really needed a whole day for but it was fantastic and it was amazing to see how much the quality of art has degraded over the years and what we accept these day as master works. The art from the 17th/18th early 19th century was fantastic, was like looking at photos and then late 19th and now was plain canvas with a couple of paint splatters or lines. Well worth seeing though. We then went back to the hotel in the freezing cold and we got lost a couple more times, had room service for tea and went to bed early as we were heading to Toronto early.

Here are some pics from the MET:

Today was the first of January and it was warmer than yesterday. We skipped breakfast as we got up a lunch time and then strolled through central park to the American museum of natural history. It took about 45mins in the line up but well worth it. Fantastic exhibitions as you can see by the photos and the animals looked real and the background painting was so good it blended right into the foreground material. We left at closing time (5.30pm) and wondered through time square for some KFC for tea except they grill the chicken. We then went to a double exhibition on the Titanic and Leonardo Da Vinci which again were both fantastic. No photography was allowed so sorry about that, but the titanic was set up like you were on the actually ship and it had artifacts that were recovered and information about the sinking and turns out it should have never sunk. They assigned us as passengers so we could follow their story, I was a first class lady and Greg was a Third class coal miner which i think suited us quite well. The Da Vinci was really good too as it was interactive and we got to rebuild some of his machines and learn a bit more about him. All in all a fantastic day except for the millions of people you are constantly in contact with. Hope everyone is well and had a good new year.
